There are now cherry trees all over DC, primarily thanks to a gift of 3020 cherry trees from Japan to the United States in 1912. Every year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates these trees. We were fortunate to be able to visit during the peak blooming time for the cherry trees.
